Investigations of a recent truck wreck that shut down a thoroughfare in East Texas and led to the death of one driver show the company that owned the truck behind the crash has had several cases of crashes across East Texas throughout the past year. According to the authorities, the 18-wheeer in question was hauling chicken parts and travelling on the northbound lane of Highway 271, when it swerved into oncoming traffic and clipped another heavy truck. The impact of their contact caused the chicken hauler to tip over, spilling its contents on the highway and blocking northbound traffic. Seconds later, a pickup truck slammed into the trailer blocking the northbound sections of the highway. Robert Wayne Williams, 57, died at the scene of the accident. History of Accidents But according to Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration records, the company the truck was registered to, Mountain View Hauling, LLC, has had a history of being involved in several trucking accidents. The company, based in Mt. Crawford Virginia, currently owns 65 trucks, 14 of which have been involved in crashes that happened in East Texas. Federal records, however, show no critical violations. Whenever you’re involved in an accident caused by a heavy truck, it’s important to have a lawyer investigate the incident for underlying factors that may have contributed to the accident. In this case, it’s absolutely important for the victim’s family to investigate if Mountain View Hauling’s long record of accidents could be attributed to some form of negligence. This will dramatically strengthen any claim for damages caused by wrongful death.
