A passenger in the backseat of a car was killed after a multiple-vehicle collision on I-35 in Waco. According to police authorities, the accident, which happened at 3:40 p.m. on Thursday, involved three passenger cars crashing into a tractor trailer on the northbound lanes of I-35. Emergency responders found that a female passenger in the backseat of a sedan had died because of the accident.

Garen Bynum, Waco police officer, said that officers at the time had responded to an unrelated traffic accident on the southbound lanes of I-35 near Baylor University when they were notified of a multiple vehicle crash in the northbound lanes. An SUV, a 4-door sedan, a minivan, and an 18-wheeler truck were involved in the crash, Bynum said. Officers are still piecing together just what had caused the collision.

Likewise, authorities have yet to release the identity of the casualty. The crash also injured four others–two males and two females.
