A woman driving along Spring Cypress Road yesterday morning ran off the road and slammed into a utility pole. The impact of the crash was strong enough to split the car in half, killing the driver instantly. Authorities report that the accident occurred at around 12:15 a.m. Friday, in block 8900 of Spring Cypress.

The woman was behind the wheel of her Honda Accord, driving east in the right hand lane of the road. Investigators believe she failed to anticipate a curb on the road, driving off the right side and plowing into a shallow ditch with high speed. The vehicle ultimately hit a utility pole, splitting in half. The woman was alone in the car at the time of the crash. No one else was hurt in the accident.

Investigators don’t believe that alcohol was a factor in the accident, but officials at the Sherriff’s office said that they would still wait for the official toxicology reports before making a statement. Because no other vehicles were involved in the accident, authorities aren’t expected to press charges.
